Christmas arrived and went in a blur yet again and good wishes and a prosperous and healthy New Year wished for all. Snow made December and January very tough at times.

The team of horses has strengthened for 09 / 10 and we have some really mixed and quality horses for every rider level.

Masie, Barney, Rhodri, Biscuit, Ghaz, Hobby, Caffraegh, Dublin,Worthy,Lucy, Shads are all established in their jobs and so far still going strong!

Retired now is Tops (my old show jumper) due to injury / wear and tear, Viking (31 years) and Portia (24 years) all at this point fit and well. Tops is in foal to a lovely bay horse (CVS Hot Business) otherwise known as Teddy and fingers crossed that all goes well and then we can update on her further during 2010.

New additions include:
  • Strawb (ex SJ) now doing advanced flatwork training and hacking
  • Athena (on loan) and in further training.
  • Monty (Shogun's youngster)...might make it yet to school status!
Several of our horses in training / jump or flat are for re-sale so please either ask or check if we have any up on the website.

Bobby is now mainly used as chief escort horse or for more experienced riders and is thoroughly enjoyed due to his past experience hunting on Dartmoor, making him a lovely confident ride.

Sad losses this year include Misty at 26years old who was very special to us all and completely irreplaceable and also Betty who was one of our best newer horses. She had massive character and she won everyone over. Due to her great enthusiasm for jumping Shelley jumped her in some classes to keep her busy and they won the South West BSJA leagues final this year which was a wonderful tribute to her. We had some wonderful stories and times with her and again is irreplaceable due to her talents, and lovely eccentricity.

Our ABRS exams are running very well and consistently which also allows everyone to learn at their own pace and achieve certificates when up to level. At a certain level they then have outside examiners coming in and these results can then be used in their own right or as pre requisites for their more advanced professional exams.

Our junior show jumping team are gaining experience on different horses, and horses of mixed training levels, and also gaining more certificates and training towards their exams and potential CV's!!

For an update on our Show Jumping Team please look at the Wales and West update, as this gives some idea of what they get up to!

Shelley has qualified Joss for the Newcomers second rounds, Joss is working very sweetly at present and Kid upgraded to Grade A this year which was a personal goal for them, she and Shelley are a very established team now. Shelley also took her HGV test and got better marks than us!!

Spring is starting novice classes this winter and we look forward to working with her. She and Storm also help out with the more advanced riders occasionally.

Our liveries are our extended horse family and enjoy use of the facilities, Exmoor scenery, hacking and tuition. We have occasional vacancies and schooling livery spaces.

Transport for training days and shows...please ask if you are interested in show days and show training days, and also for prices if you up to level.

The staff this year include myself, Shelley, Sue, Abby (now back part time), and Catherine (at present travelling) but still involved when here, Amanda Pugh (and Jemma) and our newest staff member Mikayla. Helpers include Nicole Hanson, Anna Johnston, Daisy Hayward, Alice Hanson, Jemma Pugh and Gemma Wells...all these girls are regulars in the Show Jump Club and learning to be very aware with the horses which helps when working with the clients!

The farm (up to 9 people) and Mini Dean (2-3 people) still book up for either riding and non-riding holidays and we can cover most levels so should be able to arrange a special holiday to suit you.

We look forward to seeing you all again this year and yet again a big thank you to Ashley who does much work behind the scenes and also to Ollie who maintains this site and keeps our computers running so efficiently.

Best wishes and good health for 2010...

Tracy, Ashley and all at Dean (2 and 4 legged)
